ISM is thrilled to share the news that Jake Wightman has been nominated for Sports Personality of the Year 2022.

Jake became World Champion earlier this year in 1500m a title last held by a Brit since Steve Cram in 1983. Jake also medaled at every other major this year, won 3 diamond league titles and broke numerous national records.

Jake encapsulates everything this SPOTY award stands for. His journey to the top has been far from smooth, however Jake has used the hurdles he’s faced to springboard from and grow. He’s left his ego at the door in the search for progression and improvement, entering himself in unorthodox cross-country races and partaking in grueling long distance meets, equipping him with the grit and determination he needed to excel above his competitors on the track. His authenticity, determination and self-drive makes him truly inspirational, and someone who motivates people up and down the country to never give up!
